Good luck suing the family of a dead man for crimes they had nothing to do with.

In civil court, you could probably sue the family of a fictional character for crimes that only existed in novels.

Wright's victims already filed their civil suit against his estate before any settlement from the city has been paid out. Caleb Livington was left braind dead and on life support in a permanent semi-vegetative state after Wright shot him, and Joshua Hodges was shot in the leg and pistol whipped in the face by Wright as he carjacked him (just 3 weeks before he died). Families of both victims are represented by attorney Michael Padden in joint civil suits.

They are lined up to drain every single red cent of blood money paid out by the city.

So the officer accidentally shot him, then the cops responded to the stopped vehicle with an army of officers with police shields. Sound about right

That's generally how they respond to a report of a high-risk felony warrant being served followed by a report of shots fired

Shots fired accidentally by a cop towards the driver*

A lot of departments say shorts fired by who instead of just a generic shots fired

I'm not completely caught up, but the main developments seem to be the only material witness has been the officer who was in Wright's vehicle, who was also the patrol chief and superior officer. He testified that he was bodily inside Wright's vehicle trying to stop him from using the shift lever to put it into drive and take off, that Wright managed to put it into drive to try to escape (not that the vehicle careened away on its own when he was shot), that he (the officer) would have been in mortal danger if Wright had managed to escape with him still stuck partway in the vehicle, and that Kim Potter would have been authorized and justified to intentionally use deadly force to neutralize Wright at that point under the state's statutes. So per the regulations, she could have drawn her gun and shot him to stop him from operating the vehicle with an officer dragging along, but instead she tried to use a taser. But accidentally used the gun.

A week of testimony from state witnesses has produced fuck-all. It might be the most boring, cumulative and redundant trial to be streamed live.
It really contrasts with how the Rittenhouse trial was keeping people on edge each day and producing fireworks
