If history started the moment Kyle got shot at then he would absolutely be entitled to an affirmative defense based on self-defense. But it didn't
The defense will point out that he was defending a gas station, which he was. They will show video evidence of him being attacked by a raving crowd of violent rioters. And they will show him shooting two of those rioters in self-defense.
The video is compelling and clear-cut. If he was planning on starting a violent confrontation, which I've seen no evidence of, then antifa really should have given him the chance. What he did was clearly self-defense. If he broke gun laws, which seems probable, then he should be convicted on those lesser offenses.
