Dude, maybe you should have simply admitted to wrongdoing rather then doubling down and insulting me.

Do you really think it was OK to call him an idiot?

And I can't believe how offended you got, lol.

I have no issue with calling somebody an idiot who is being an idiot. When I point out that US hospitals are still at critical capacity and his argument is that in Denmark they have higher vaccination rates I'm going to call him an idiot.

The government isn't compelling vaccination. You can get tested every two weeks and avoid it. This is not some authoritarian mandate like the right is making it out to be. If Biden said everybody has to get vaccinated or get fined, then I'd be against it, but this is quite a bit lesser than that.

The 7-day moving average for Alabama (one of, if not the worst hit) continues to decline, and ICU capacity continues to improve. The situation could have been prevented, but it wasn't, and now we are on the back-end of the current wave. It is a mistake to take unprecedented, legally controversial, and politically toxic steps to mandate vaccinations at this juncture. Given the American political climate, it's going to entrench resistance to vaccinations that both parties have been working to convince their voters to take. It's going to be seen as punitive, which advocates of the mandate are making no attempts to deny. And the fact that the CCP, of all nations, is moving away from mandatory vaccinations towards a more "positive approach" with respect to convincing hold-outs should really make us rethink what we want our approach to be here.

Vaccination rates in Alabama and other hard-hit states have already started to rise in response to the current wave. We should be encouraging that trend. That includes pushing back on teacher unions that are fundamentally interested in maintaining the status quo. Denmark's success is in part because they adopted a methodical approach to removing restrictions as the situation improved. We can contrast that to many states in the United States that are maintaining or increasing restrictions despite an improved outlook against the disease.
