Moore won the primary and temp seat, over Strange who Trump personally endorsed. then lost the later general.
all the GOP had to do was vote for Strange, they may have still lost tho in the coming general election. Moore only held office for a short time to hold the seat. so its the same as Franken, Cuomo, etc. The GOP chose to back a molester creep racist idiot bible thumper, no shock for the deep south.
the left has painted themselves into a corner, by championing racial and sexism issues they have to cast out those guilty of these from time to time. and they're a cleaner party for it. the GOP by contrast chooses to champion free speech and masculinity, and is dirtier for it. both a result of politics forcing their hand to be sure.
you have the timeline wrong, Moore had already won the primary before the sexual assault allegations came out. by the time this scandal broke, it was already too late to replace him on the ballot, so the only options for the GOP were to distance themselves from him and take the L or to stick with him and hope that he can eke out the win anyway.
you are of course right that Roy Moore was a fucking abominable person and candidate even without these sexual assault allegations, so the ones who really fucked things up in this case are the Alabama primary voters who chose this dude over Luther Strange.
