Bullcrap. During the 50s and 60s, the Soviet Union and its satellite states in Eastern Europe were among the most technologically advanced and industrialized countries on earth. Yes, they were a bit less modern and rich than the US or Western Europe, but the gap in science, technology and standard of living was not huge. In particular, the Soviet Union was far ahead of all south and east asian countries and all of Africa with the lone exception of South Africa. Therefore, the most prominent experiment with socialism in human history was carried out in countries which started out in the top third of the global pecking order, not some underdeveloped shithole. The result was an abject failure.

Likewise, communist China saw 50+ million people starve to death and was literally one of the poorest countries on the planet (poorer than many African countries!) until well into the 70s, when Deng Xiaoping introduced free market economies.
And let's not even start with examples from Latin America, like Venezuela or Argentina - previously rich countries which entered a downward spiral as soon as they started nationalizing large parts of their economy and messed with their currency and consumer prices.

building up takes decades or even centuries, destroying things goes a 100 times quicker and with some history knowledge you would be aware of this

states like italy are literally zombies and german exports are basically paid for in target 2 debts that will never get paid

1st bold - i dont think maximizing profits is inherently a negative thing. On the contrary it is exactly what makes capitalism so good at increasing goods and services for te common man. What isnt good is when maximizing profits resorts to nonmarket mrchanisms to do so, such as through special interest.
The real kick in the pants here is that if the government didnt have the power to fulfill special interest i think wed be a lot better off.

Also, we spend very little on the basics of running a country (depending what you define this as). As you expand what that means it will make government larger, which will inevitably produce more special interest and the more unsavory parts of “maximizing profit” that prople confuse with capitalism
