We can't have those things because the cost of health care is over over over priced. For example the cost of insulin should be magnitudes cheaper, it was invented in 1923 and given away as free. Same for x-ray, invented in 1895, but still hundred or more per scan. Even for fluffy, about $100 a scan. Health care industry is greedy as fuck.

Edit: Cost of child birthing services as well is usually well over $10k, easily much more.

There's no reason to bring up religion when talking about wealth. That is literally one of the dogwhistles used by neo-nazis, so even if you don't believe in exterminating jews you are in their company.

Lots of work is done on the public dime then licensed by pharmaceutical companies.

One thing is industry is insanely inefficient. People say "Oh the free market makes companies efficient". Those people have never worked with large companies. My lab does the same work for 30k in the same time frame as a pharmaceutical company for hundreds of thousands. A pharma company sent us a drug and a mouse protocol. They use single-use gavage needles to give oral doses to mice. They're like $10 each. We use one $50 metal gavage needle for years. Once your technique is down they're far easier to use than the flexible pieces of crap they recommended.

Industry in virtually everything related to healthcare is insanely inefficient.

Its a bit complicated because China bribes our politicians and FBI into committing seppuku.

Because we prefer freedom and choice.

As it turns out, our healthcare system as a whole is far more controlled and has much greater legal protectionism applied than nearly any nation on earth. Far from being a "free" or even "fair" market, it's currently used as a captive market, where the simplest medications for lifelong ailments require hundreds in doctors fees and prescription costs every month, yet would cost less than a Pizza per month elsewhere.

Our problems have absolutely nothing to do with private vs public healthcare, and everything to do with the extreme control we've allowed to be inflicted upon our personal health.
