Acts of kindness go a long way. There are 2nd and 3rd world countries where candidates go around and “gift” bags of rice, school supplies, etc before an election as a precursor of things to come if they are elected. It actually works, poor people love that shit.

A bottle of water doesn’t seem like much but there are subliminal messages being sent such as “we care and they don’t” which to me is enough to sway at least some people that could be fairly indifferent or uneducated on platforms or candidates.
