"Why can't we all be millionaires?" - every stoned, 15-year old wannabe-socialist ever.

We can't all be millionaires, but we could easily send every kid with an 80 or higher IQ to college and make sure everybody has access to healthcare.

The latter actually saves enough money to pay for the former lol

I remember in 2016 (I think?) they approved an extra-budgetary apportionment to the military of 60 billion dollars. Conveniently, the number the CBO said that same year would be enough to make college free. Yet nobody batted an eye about wasteful military spending while they blasted Bernie for having the audacity to say we could make college more affordable.

Honestly, I dont think that the academization of society should be pushed above 66% college attendance or something in this ballpark. Perhaps 50% is sufficient if the quality and also the subject-specific depth of vocational training is raised.
We're in agreement on the other stuff. US overspending on the military is ridiculous, and college should largely be free so that as much of a nation's intellectual potential as possible can be unlocked and used.

If American high school wasn't such shit I would agree on the amount of college attendance.

Yeah, that's probably my German perspective speaking - we have one of the world's best systems for vocational training, which is being increasingly copied by our European neighbors and even some US states. Subjects which do not inherently involve academic content/techniques/thinking should not be artificially locked behind a college education just for the sake of it, like kindergartners or nurses. The deeper problem is of course the thinking that any non-college job or education is inherently of inferior quality and low prestige.

I’m not sure what you’re asking.

Are you fucking kidding?

He made an obviously facetious shitpost and I replied in kind, but if you think a CEO’s 18 million will have the same effect as every single employee making 3.5 million you either work somewhere with one employee and a ceo or you can’t do math.

Let’s say an average McDonald’s has ten employees for easy math, let’s all say they pay $200/day for easy math (mass OP) if every employee worked every day of the near that’s 700k annual salary for all ten. If you pay them 10k per day that’s an annual salary of $35,000,000 you pay out.

Shouldn’t have any effect on anything.
