I did not claim that AOC doesnt have Puerto Rican roots - I said that the influence they have on her life experience and outlook on society is overstated, given that she spent the formative years of her life in an upscale, 90% non-hispanic white Westchester suburb where the median family income is $137k, followed by spending her college years at the elite Boston University.
And yes, this is quite the contrast to the way she presents and frames herself, namely as the champion of downscale, underprivileged minorities.
If you read more carefully instead of grasping at straws, you'd have noticed that I blasted Cruz for his lack of authenticity. However, this kind of whataboutism doesnt excuse the inauthenticity of AOC's personal brand.
'overstated' by who? what has she claimed her heritage enabled her to do that you dispute? be more specific if you think you have valid criticism, and please tell me what enables YOU of all people to judge if her background justifies her "outlook on society", whatever you mean by that.
also, you know one can aim to be a "champion of the underprivileged" without being dirt poor yourself, right? if you have statements or claims that suggest she's lying or misleading about her background just present them. empty attacks, that just uncritically echo the establishment and right wing smears against her, are meaningless. provide at least SOME kind of substance if you think your criticism deserves to be taken seriously.
to me it just looks like you're grasping at straws tbh.
her record so far has indeed illustrated that she's championing the causes of those that usually don't have a voice in american politics: average citizens - as opposed to the donor class.
you seem so desperate to attack her for something. it's the whole "bernie can't possibly be principled on taxing the rich and helping the poor, because he owns two houses and made a lot of money with a book" thing all over again. do you genuinely not realise how dumb and intellectually lazy that is?
