I think he had disruption power. I think that was pretty clear earlier in his term when Chinese stocks tanked for quite some time after his plans and remarks.

It just wouldn't have been good for business until it was known with 100% certinity he and the Congressman and women that support him could no longer have a significant impact on business.

I'm speculating obviously but that's just my big picture thoughts. Why else wouldn't they have done this long ago? There's many times where you could have used the same reasoning.

They are private companies. Don’t use their service then? If 74 million Americans have an issue that is a significant hit to these companies finances. Do these individuals have the backbone to back their view with action? If an affected individual feels they have legal recourse you are more than welcome to go to court

They always start a new platform, then quickly realize without moderation and control it devolves into a safe-haven for pedophiles and terrorists, then quickly implement almost identical rules to YouTube or Twitter. Even Alex Jones forums have censorship for this exact reason.
