I'm a huge fan of Four Roses Small Batch bourbon. More than one article out there will say it's the best affordable bourbon on the market.

buffalo trace is dope too. under 30 in my neck of the woods (philly)
FR single barrel is top notch compared to small batch but agree can't go wrong with that

But if you're looking for truly gourmet food... you need look no further than Hormel Corned Beef Hash. Nuked with about 1.5 table spoons of light brown sugar.

So I legitimately like beer. If you offered me juice or beer or milk, whatever, I would likely opt for a beer. Especially the first few. They go down overly fast because I do enjoy them, its carbon, it's sometimes a bit bitter, it's great. Just like coffee. I legitimately like most coffee.

I really enjoy German and Mexican beers on hot days. I enjoy most categories; cream ales, pilsners, and lagers. I am not going to pretend to like stouts, I hate most of them. When beers get too hoppy because it's like a dick length contest only with hops I don't enjoy them.

I would pair beer with nearly any meal. I currently have a German wheat beer brewing. Its my first time trying to brew my own. I expect it will taste like piss water.

Fender, Snipa, try not to kill each other in here. I actually want to see what people like and recommend overtime as they try it so I can keep a list.

why the bothsidesism? i didn't use my monthly 'new phone, who dis?' excuse only to make make a disgusting and disparaging remark - and then unironically bitch about not being able to have a reasonable conversation. look at the first post i made in this thread, the one he replied to.

back to topic, i also like beer. i'm not into the whole craft beer / IPA hype, but i love me a good pilsner (to me that means rather bitter, many hops, but no spicy aromas) or, very much on the other side of the spectrum, i also enjoy the malty goodness of a fine stout - so basically everything you don't like in beer, lol. oh, and i also like some wheat beers, but there's huge differences, from soapy yuck to bottled bavarian heaven.

i've never tried brewing one of my own though. a friend of mine has, and it wasn't all that bad, but i honestly prefer just drinking my favourite brands.

I just really hate almost all beer. This xkcd speaks to me on a personal level.

lol, are you also 'doing your part' anyway, or do you at least resist peer pressure? i've heard people say that any man who doesn't like beer never had a good one, but that's obviously bullshit - i know because they say the same about coffee, and i absolutely hate the taste of it, i've never had a whole cup of black coffee in my life. love the smell though...

Only place I like coffee is in something chocolate, and then just a little bit to enhance the flavor. Otherwise I really hate coffee.

I like super sweet beer like Reds, but if it's not basically candy I can't drink it. Funny thing is my wife likes Guinness a lot. I'll sometimes cook with beer. Like I'll get a dark beer to deglaze a pan for chili.

*drool

i don't even know what reds is tbh. is it a brand or a type of beer? anyway, to each their own imo. and on the off chance you haven't actually tried it because it looks and sounds 'strong' maybe: guinness is actually rather malty and sweet, not at all hoppy or bitter.

I wouldn't pair bourbon or any whiskey with food, tbh, beer and wine generally pair better.

This is fair, too. With food, I'm partial to weak, light beers to simply wash the palate, so as to not take away from the food itself. The bourbon is for drinking after dinner, over a cigar. Bourbon, or dark, heavy, imperial stouts aged in bourbon barrels; like Goose Island's Bourbon County - which unfortunately is only available come Black Friday until supplies run out. I own 7 bottles of the stuff, most of them from 2019.

I never used to drink coffee without heavy cream and sugar until I ran into this stuff when I was hunting, and I've gone black and ain't going back: https://genehicks.com/

Belgian here.

Fuck that noise.

I've been partial to Kraken rum. Nothing too fancy, but very enjoyable. It's almost a dessert.

Recently got Pampero Anniversario. Pretty good as well.

Question to OP. Do we post about food we made ourselves as well or just restaurants?

Some friends and I once made up a blind taste test of several spiced rums, Kraken was the best. Sailor Jerry was the worst, and Captain Morgan barely better that Sailor Jerry.

Never even heard of Sailor Jerry.
Cpt Morgan is alright for cocktails, but not much else.

I can recommend the Pampero Anniversario. It's way better than the regular Pampero.

Ever tried the honey rum from Tenerife? Sweet as hell, but not bad for a couple of sips.
