I'm concerned about random branches of government that wouldn't normally be able to access any information about me now having access. The only thing the census needs to know is the number of residents in a household. Nothing else.

And yes, in this area, if you didn't respond to the census they came and knocked on your door. They were oddly insistent on trying to get a direct response. When you finally get tired of them dropping by again and again from morning into afternoon (same person) and open the door to figure out what they want, they want you to answer a bunch of personal questions. "No, you can't have my name or my wife's name. No you can't have our phone number(s). No, you don't need to know our ethnic makeup or educational backgrounds. There are 2 people who live here, that's all you need to know." "You're required by law to provide this information to the US Census Bureau." "As a matter of fact, I'm not. The Census Bureau is required by law to gather the number of residents at this address." "Well, here's a form with a code you can use to fill the form out online. If you don't fill it out, then we'll keep coming by bothering you until you do."

There's no lying required here. The level of harassment the Census fuckers descend to is beyond the pale. And bringing up the law as they do in a false way as if to indicate there'll be some consequence if you don't bother to cooperate is the best part. Was able to skip this shit 10 years ago and simply not respond, by living in a secured complex they couldn't enter. Ignore their mail and call it good.

Once you grow up and move out of mommy's basement, maybe you can enjoy random harassment too!
