We had stronger social programs in the 60's and 70's. We seriously slowed our public investment and as a result our society has gone to shit more than other places. We've basically turned out economy over to corporations with workers being the least important factor. Consumers kind of forgot they're workers too...
we have stopped investing from the top. Either from lack of taxes or poor investment. it just feeding the rich, the stock market couldn't be a more broken example of the US economy. 29k and middle of pandemic/riots/mass unemployment.
