I made a comment in r/BlackLivesMatter about how ironic the new reddit icon was (white reddit face on a black background; the new icon was made in support of BLM; I just thought it was a bit funny that the reddit face was white instead of black).

I got banned from the subreddit

lmfao well done my friend

Hey friend, always enjoy your presence, but please don't talk to Joop like this. Joop will forever and always be a PaRD Treasure in my eyes.

So do you think the government should step in and force reddit to change? What is your solution?

The solution is to not support the platform, not use government force obv

Some examples of hateful activities that would violate the rule:

Subreddit community dedicated to mocking people with physical disabilities.
Post describing a racial minority as sub-human and inferior to the racial majority.
Comment arguing that rape of women should be acceptable and not a crime.
Meme declaring that it is sickening that people of color have the right to vote.

Goomshill is disgusted that he can't join r/TammyDuckworthCantWalk.

Your lies and treachery will die with you

I would support a non-partisan extension of the FCC that examines the search algorithms, policing habits, etc. of the tech giants. I think we can all agree that they have WAY too much power but it would also be incredibly dangerous to have the government regulate speech.

This doesn't seem truthful at all.

Except its the whole point. Subs devoted to hating white people, cops, men, etc are allowed and endorsed. FragileWhiteRedditor, WhitePeopleTwitter, BlackPeopleTwitter, Bad_cop_no_donut, TwoXChromosomes- these rules were specifically set up to allow hatred from groups liberals associate with and towards groups they hate. Their stated criterion doesnt even make sense- men and cops are minorities for example. White people are a minority internationally. But they had no problem using this rule to label feminists as TERFs and ban them.

I dont think we would even need to think about the government regulating speech if we instead found a way to break the market dominance of the social media giants via antitrust laws or something like that.
In this sense, reddit's banwave might finally push a critical mass of users over the breaking point and we will find out whether alternative sites like ruqqus, parler or .win can establish themselves as viable alternatives over the long run.

I'm confused why Reddit's policy bothers you.
