IMO, the southeast US, is in their own little world. I've been in 49 of the 50 states (minus Hawaii), and the southeast is like a different country. I don't even go there.

Pretty decent amount of evidence isnt it? They had witness reports, multiple videos, autopsy, etc etc. Usually criminal evidence is not made public before a trial so it wont taint juries. They've haf the evidence for some time. Arberys familys lawyer leaked the video to the media to stir up the public rancor and taint the trial.

If one side in this incident is insane, it's the two hillbillies who felt compelled to act as vigilantes as soon as they heard of a suspicious black dude in "their" neighborhood, like in some bad movie.

You were talking about Arbery "initiating" a fistfight, but the real problem here is how the MacMichaels initiated the whole encounter at gunpoint. That's where the aggression came from, that's where the situation really escalated.

Regarding the original article: the author is clearly a SJW and the whole article is dripping of bias and tearjerking, but the case at hand is nonetheless egregious. Fuck those two assholes. Then again, that the local law enforcement didnt file charges can be explained by the fact that one of the suspects was a close friend and (until recently) coworker of them. Hence, this case isnt suitable to prove the author's conclusion (which in reality was the premise all along) that the entire country is a racist hellhole.

Generally speaking, armed wannabe cops who engage with a hyperaggressive attitude are a recipe for escalation and disaster. Too many of those fools just want to play out their violence- and "respect my authoritah"-fantasies.
Deescalation is one of the most important skills for cops/security guards. No one should be allowed to roam the streets as a vigilante without proper deesclation training.
