It was all lies though, because no matter what kind of political support Trump had generated automation wasn't going to stop, coal will never come back, he had no plan for healthcare or education costs, etc. etc.

Trump has never made a genuine attempt to stop southern illegal immigration. The wall was never realistic, would not be effective, and would cost more than it would benefit. This pretty much sums up his entire illegal immigration platform.
