Working as a nurse and the wife works as a surplus lines commercial underwriter, so both of our jobs are safe..

Currently, I’ve lost about 35k in the market and expect to lose more.. But I’ve taken the opportunity to invest more while stocks are low.

Also, I’m working as a critical response nurse working in a pop up COVID unit and I’m making ridiculous money.. I plan on finishing my 13 week contract, maybe doing another 8 week contract and taking the rest of the year off.

Will be interesting to see how my retailer employer fairs when covid dissipates. The brick and mortar business has been on a slow decline along with the larger market segment, although we've done really great compared to our competitors and carry no debt. We willl weather the storm, curious to see how the competition does though, and the distribution of revenue between B&M and online sales post-covid. Probably some kind of phased store opening when states start turning off the shelter-in-place orders.

For my wife, I'm assuming some teaching positions will open up due to deaths in our local district since its skewed to older teachers that would have already retired if not for 2008 crisis. The local restaurant she works at now likely wont open up until June/July. Doubt people will continue to 'pity tip' like they did the few days prior to shutdown.

I'm REALLY HOPING for de-regulation in housing and new construction after all this covid and financial mess settles. Was hard enough dealing with that shit prior. Very sad seeing those bums down south sleeping between chalk lines.

I would definitely recommend going on that cross-country trip if it's something you haven't done before. A friend and I did a 2-month roadtrip living out of my car last summer and it was one of the best experiences.

The only major thing covid-19 will have on an impact on for me personally is the requirements for the graduate program that I'm in, which is to become a Marriage and Family Therapist. Everyone has to complete a certain number of clinical hours within their program in order to apply to be an associate with the BBS after graduation. Unfortunately, this was our first semester that we were able to start working with clients, but that only lasted about 4 weeks before the school converted to online entirely. In our role as practicum students we're unable to do telehealth, so we effectively have no clients again until August because the school's psychological services aren't open during the summer. The only other option is to get a supervisor at a community agency to collect hours, but that's especially difficult as they're going through their own changes over covid-19.

There's efforts by program coordinators to talk with the BBS to lower the number of hours needed in order to graduate, but nothing has been decided just yet.

Very interested in details for your trip.

I’ve driven from Las Vegas to Maine but it wasn’t a leisure trip by any means (took 2 and a half days, which is psychotic). This one I at least would like one week driving there and one back, covering as much ground as can be comfortably covered.

Doing a long-distance trip in a short amount of time sounds awful. You just spend the majority of it in your car driving, not really doing anything.

My friend and I based our trip around the national parks, and went to ~25 of them and covered 12 states starting in California and ending in Minnesota. We found you could do this extremely affordably if we just slept in my car at rest stops on the freeway. Our only major expenses became gas and food.

It will be more like 2008. I don't know why Republicans keep getting elected. Everytime they leave the car in the ditch. Every single time.
