You're not wrong that CA's state legislature doesn't take conservative views into account very often. Thankfully, our last two governors have governed well to the right of the legislature. I also wouldn't say that our issues stem from "liberal policies." Rather, I think we're not forward thinking enough (technology, not left/right politics). Both our tax code and education system are really outdated and it's not a sustainable model.

It's a really big difference actually, it's what the founders were specifically referring to when they said taxation without representation.
