Which can be said about many things, but that we don't similarly criminalize.

Again, what was the harm caused to justify 3+ years in prison?

Also :locked:

Exposure to health hazard is criminalized. Businesses get shut down, people get jail time, huge fines, etc. This is something that is regularly dealt with.

And yeah, unloaded some of this FG for $ and got caught. Not gonna cry about it, I knowingly violated the ToS and this is the consequence.

I mean there are periods of time during which it is impossible to transmit HIV. When you have an undetectable viral load you cannot pass on the virus (U=U). I'd be curious to see the full quote from the defense to see if this is what they're referring to when they say 'under these circumstances'. Don't rlly trust duff's source to be unbiased.

I don't think that calling this guy a rapist is cool either. Just increases the stigma.

If this chap was responsible, and it seems like he was as nobody was infected, then there's no reason to prosecute him. Trump's administration and the GOP in general have been going after people with HIV as part of their anti-LGBT bullshit, allowing doctors to choose not to treat people with HIV or AIDS under 'religious conscience' policies. This sounds like more of the same hysterical nonsense. nearly 4 years in prison for this is persecution plain and simple.

Tl;Dr - if he had an undetectable viral load then he should not be prosecuted as nobody was at risk. Criminalising people with HIV who present no risk of transmission is cruel and discriminatory.

I am gay and I refuse to date anyone who is HIV positive.

- is just straight up bigotry.

HIV is scary (mostly because the media has made it scary - It's basically physically harmless now unless left untreated) but safe sex with a partner with HIV is very much possible as long as they have the aforementioned undetectable viral load. This is achieved through treatment. As long as they're taking their pills and have regular checkups you cannot get HIV even from unprotected sex with them and if you're still worried you can take PREP as a precaution. Don't stigmatise people with HIV.

HIV is gods punishment for being gay. They stigmatized themselves with the dirty act.

You pretty much have to know the person has HIV before you can know to take PREP.

/e I don't think anyone is trying to stigmatize those with HIV. But I do think people that have HIV should be required by law to tell their partners.

"HIV is harmless as long as they take that daily pill" aka "pregnancy is option as long as you take that daily pill", and thousands of unplanned pregnancies happen that way, forgotten pills.
