This is the kind of serious national security threat where at a minimum Steven Simon should be getting a visit from Men in Black who snoop around his stuff.

Definitely.

What strikes me the most is how needlessly specific this paragraph is. If it had been a coincidence, I would have expected the article to talk about "an Iranian general" instead of "former commander of Iran's revolutionary guards, Qassem Soleimani", and "being at a known location" instead of "visits Baghdad for a meeting and you know the address".

Likely killed by a drone operator, not even old enough to buy cigarettes, who probably did a Fortnite dance and dabbed after obliterating him. Ain't that a bitch?

showerthought: NYT's paywall just killed Soleimani. Good luck paying that in Iran.

But for real, this is way too conspicuous and needs to be investigated at a minimum. When the Daily Telegraph published crosswords that included Utah, Omaha, Overlord, Mulberry and Neptune prior to D-Day, MI5 stuck their heads in there and made absolutely sure it was just a weird and unlikely coincidence and not a spy dropping warnings for the Nazis. Turns out it really was just coincidence, though perhaps involving random leaks of war-related phrases that were included without intention.

does the imgur link from my prior post get flagged for “you should be over 18 to see this picture” or something like that when you open it in a new window? it’s the screencap of the paragraph in question. it did for me

Pfft. LOL

/e A bald eagle swoops down and grabs both your puny wedge tail and the fox it's carrying. :D

Wedge tail is the largest bird of prey on the planet, you are talking a 15 kg monster vs a 4 kg seagull wannabe.

I need to really stress: That's the kind of leak that absolutely cannot happen. Full blown actual treason that could have major repercussions
Now I want to maintain some hope that just by astronomical coincidence he printed a hypothetical about Soleimani in Baghdad for a Meeting getting Assassinated by Missiles, just hours before Soleimani was in Baghdad for a Meeting and got Assassinated by Missiles.
Maybe. It could be nothing

but jesus, can you imagine what could have happened? Lets say Iran gets a heads-up about this, so they stealthily swap Solemani's plane with a plane filled with a girls soccer team and drive out a youth orchestra to meet them in al-Muhandis's car. They rush in the cameras and we've got nonstop footage of the flaming bones of children littering the airport because the US operation somehow mysteriously had 'bad intel'. They'd be riding that 'tragedy' for decades as a rallying cry.

on a less serious note:

#2 and #3 have smaller body mass, #1 is extinct.
Bald eagle not on the list.
