Noticed the complete absence of common sense to make things better at society levels.

Just because you think it's a good idea doesn't mean it's "common sense."

Thanks you, so Yes setting it up to 21 is too much, and sometimes cops aren't that nice... Lets hope they are fair with everyone... Oups.

And No i'm disagree about jumping on the "adults freedom" train, the problem is more global, it's... Well it's deeply political you know ?

Politicians who legislate in favor of these laws view constituents as cattle. "Baaah" I'll smoke and drink my Henny as much as I please regardless of age. My kids will be drinking and smoking with me, probably wont want to drink and smoke after a session with the old man.

I caused a minor hubbub at work yesterday when I asserted I would gladly buy smokes for 18-20 year old adults.

Paying it forward? :)

Wouldn't that be "paying it back?"

Nah. You're doing for the next generation what I did for you and the crew with booze.

I'm not convinced of this line of reasoning. You can be tried and sentenced as an adult for murder if you are 15 but that doesn't mean we should allow you to drink at that age. I'm comfortable with certain restrictions as long as they are based on reason.

I don't think that abuses by government elsewhere provide an exception to my rule.

I don't think that's an abuse by the government. Mental illness aside, any 15 year old understands the ramifications of murder. For example, the Columbine students knew EXACTLY what they were doing. Why should their punishment be any different than the Las Vegas shooter? Because of an arbitrary line set by the state?
