Does anyone think it's strange that the leader of the protesters is a 22 yo kid?

Army Sergeants are often 22. What does that have to do with anything?

He can't fathom a world where young adults could potentially take on roles of leadership or push for change in their societies/communities.

I woluld think that if all of Hong Kong was "up in arms" about this, there would be someone a bit more senior, running things so to speak.

The young people tend to be the ones giving a shit about their future. So it would stand to reason that a younger person was leading the efforts.

the old people are from the generation that watched as the lease went back to china, and didn't start the revolution 20 years earlier before China started to bring HK back into a strangle hold.

doesnt seem like as powerful of a message as a young person. unless of course you're a boomer.

Let's have a moment of silence for the 14 minutes that hong kong could've been obliterated.

HK was still under British rule when I was there (late 80s). Wonderful city. Would love to go back.

it does look very cool, many places id love to visit but instability means no way. there's too much safe world for me still to see to risk going to Venezuela, HK, Israel, Africa (yes all of it), etc.

Yeah, I would not go there at the moment, but I'd love to see a stable HK emerge that isn't crushed under the thumb of the CCP. I want to take my wife there. I'd also love to go to Egypt, but that hasn't been the safest place for Americans in recent years, either.
