Becsuse of the piss poor will power I witness everyday.
There is so many people here trying to help, millions and millions of government resources.
Did we create the issue from past treatment. Yes likley. But now there's no will to break away
that is a lack of understanding of addiction and lack of understanding of addiction from the historically recent trauma and destruction of people
people nearly made extinct through violence and maliciousness that lead to survivors living in rotting cemeteries of their cultures
I was born addicted and have never drank or used but it's in me. That urge haunts me every single day as does all of the pain of where I grew up, what happened there, to them, and eventually to me it's in our blood, in our bloodlines
I have to be extremely careful with everything i do because I can get addicted to anything, you add in extreme (and I mean extreme) poverty during early development and abuse and neglect from people that had that done to them and there really is no escape mentally
To fix problems we have to better understand them and the causes and with Natives it's an especially tragic and misunderstood issue from those that have not studied or have kneejerk reactions to deny or whitewash what happened and the consequences of that treatment existing to this very day
