I don't think its justified to call someone a 'survivor of a school shooting' if they were one of 3000 students at the school and not even in the same building that it occurred and watched the news unfold about it on social media like everyone else.
but I wouldn't be surprised to learn I tripped up and called him that

pretty good rule of thumb: If you are willing to play petty partisan politics on your soapbox, then you forfeit any shred of untouchabiltity that soapbox is supposed to confer. I dont give a shit if its from having friends die, or your son die on combat in the military, or getting diddled as a kid. Once you step in the arena looking for a fight, you're going to get one. The rest of the media can do some preposterous dance where they give muh victims a platform to exploit americas goodwill towards them, but I just see the same shrill cacophony of activists I see everywhere else
