That's not necessary, it's natural for us to feel a connection to a tragedy like this. Even if it's something as trivial as visiting the same city 10 years ago, or whatever. He's not trying to make it about him, he's simply expressing a connection he feels. It also puts into perspective how vast the impact of this tragedy was, the people attending this event were coming from all across the country, and some of them were even from out of country.

Exactly. There's not that many PaRD regulars... your brother was there and could've been killed. Arsenic's family was at the festival earlier and could've easily been there and killed. A woman from the same town(not a big one) I spent most of my life in was killed. Sort of makes the world feel a little smaller.

But yeah, guy is just trolling.
