Well, yes, they've made a ton of predictions that turned out to be completely inaccurate, including that one. There was the one about it actually increasing the insured rate (that was a good one), about the death panels, that no one would enroll, that the ACA wouldn't meet its enrollment goals, that people wouldn't pay their premiums, that it will "kill jobs," that it will increase the deficit, that Americans would hate their coverage through the ACA.

I could go on and on but they've said a lot of dumb things and I don't think it would be fair to make me recite all of them.

Except that one isn't inaccurate. It's happening right now. Maybe in liberal la la land 50%+ annual price hikes don't lead to adverse selection, but out here in the real world, that's exactly what happens.

A self-reinforcing series whereby the costs of not carrying insurance until you get sick are outstripped the costs of carrying insurance, leading to greater and greater proportions of the public opting to pay the ACA penalties until they get sick, and then buying insurance when they get sick, which increases the costs of the people who play by the rules.

Oh. Cant you just make it mandatory? I know you'd approve of that.

Not just me, every former classmember of mine that I keep in contact with has been happy with their insurance premiums dropping. But I understand that I am a single data point out of a very large country.

Here's a data point for you on Obamacare. Prior to the ACA I could not afford insurance and have no coverage. Since Obama passed this plan, I still have no healthcare since it's still hugely expensive , however I now have the privilege of losing hundreds of dollars per year as a penalty because I still cant afford this shitty (non)coverage. Thanks obama.

One or maybe two years ago I priced it (the aca insurance), and the cheapest plan was going to be like $200 a month for essentially coverage that doesnt kick in until you pay like 7 grand in deductibles, had no "maintenance-check up provisions (all out of pocket)", no prescriptions or anything else. It was essentially catastrophic coverage only, as such paying nearly 20% of my income was hardly worth it, and while paying a mandated fee for not buying something makes the libertarian in me scream, it's still the best option for me.

Not even "middle class" , working poor you could say. I make a little over 20K per year.

nope and I doubt I'd use it even if I was eligible, just on principle.
I pay my own way, and if I cant, I go without or make other options.
