Well. .. the Bible sais all our righteous works are like dirty rags or literally menstrual cloths. aka our Good works are liked used tampons when compared to God's holiness.

so good person in our eyes = lawbreaker in God's.

so in the eyes of a holy God 1 and 2 are the same and 3 and 4 are the same.
1 and 2 would go to heaven and 3 and 4 wouldn't. It may sound harsh to number 3 but don't shoot the messenger. we all deserve 3 and 4s punishment.

what do you know about the history and literature of those lands those ancient camel and goat herders traveled through (and picked up tales and legends they then claimed as there own) until they reached the mediterranean coast?

of punishment? God is perfection. God is just. To be both all broken laws must have punishment to follow through. If you ever done anything wrong. ..a white lie or a Lustful thought, then you don't measure up to God's standard. God can't be with imperfection so even one sin makes us deserving of death.

do I think it's possible that some stories could be incorporated from other people groups? It's a possibility. Their is a great flood in many religions. I know for a fact that Jews were a group who didn't really write much. .. most thing were oral traditions. so trying to say one people group came up with it first over another is a stretch. I believe that even if a story or 2 are borrowed in the old testament that the thread the Runs through it is the same. Their is a just Holy loving God trying to redeem his people to himself.

Doesn't this make righteous works rather pointless, and evil works rather irrelevant? The Bible seems to talk a lot about sin, but does sin even matter in the grand scheme of things? As long as you believe in god, you can shit all over the 10 commandments and it won't make any difference.

no because knowing God makes you want to do good works. If you feel like you can defile the 10 commandments then you probably don't honestly want to follow jesus
