Put a buy back scheme in place for any one who no longer wishes to own a gun or register their current guns.
Have a database of fired rounds from every gun registered.
Make the penalty for being caught with an unregistered gun life in prison.
Let people own whatever they want aside from the current full auto restrictions, if their gun is used for criminal activities they will be caught, more people legally carrying means less crime.
The gang banger issue will solve itself over time as more guns are collected and more thugs are put into prison.

And now you want individual parts of guns registered too?
What about shotguns and other smooth bore guns that make it impossible to match bullets?

imo you should be able to have WHATEVER gun you desire, any gun the army can own, you and your neighbor should be able to have two of.
