...hmm , have you discussed these issues with your priest ?

With one of them I have, my original priest from when I was about 5-16 or so, after that he retired (he was an old-school jesuit and quite old :P) but the current priest of that parish is....... not quite the same....

Why do you ask?

...you are in disagreement with some major doctrines not the least of which is the path to salvation through Jesus Christ only . To be honest you would probably be excommunicated if you hold to your belief that deniers of God and the Sacrifice will be saved .

Which major doctrines? This is the way I see things..... My God would accept atheists into his arms on the day of their judgement, I cannot think of anything more divine that to look at someone who denied you their whole life, yet still lived by all of your rules (better than many people who claimed to love you unconditionally) and say "Welcome my son."

I do think it would be harder for an atheist than a Catholic or a devout Christian, because we can ask for forgiveness.... but I don't see God denying anyone entry into his kingdom if they have lived by his rules....

even still I think it would take quite a bit more than that for me to be excommunicated.... and if that did it, I would probably wash my hands of Catholicism... considering what I have given to them.

...I think I see the problem . Usually when people say " my God " what they are actually saying is " how I want or hope God to be " . This is of course heretical to the truth that we do not get to determine the nature of God especially on an individual basis but instead worship the God of His revelation .

True, but the God spoken of since the old testament is a loving, forgiving, caring, compassionate God....... that is how I view him acting....

What is your view on that then? Or even your view on whether Jews, Muslims, Buddhists get in to heaven?

/e also it is not entirely heretical to hope God is a certain way.... no man alive understands or knows how God is, so in a sense we are all hoping he is a certain way because we don't know the truth.

...my religious views and opinions are based on the teachings of Christian Church scholars ; even if I feel absolutely certain that I am grasping what I read I always make sure to check with those who understand the Bible far better than I ever will . These teachings clearly state that not everyone will be saved and that the number saved will be less than those who will not be saved .

...but we are in disagreement as to the path to salvation . I believe we are saved by Grace through faith in the redemptive sacrifice of Jesus Christ and that the way a person lives their life is all for naught outside of this most basic of all Christian teachings .

This is true we are, but I believe it takes more than just faith to get into heaven... as I would hope you do as well?

So then by that belief you do not think Jews, Muslims, atheists, or other non-christian faiths get in to heaven?
