I'd support a secular authoritarian dictatorship over most political systems so my choice is pretty clear. Especially if it was an "enlightened aristocracy" type of dictatorship.\

Again, it's a DEMOCRACY with Sharia law. That means it's likely moderate like Kuwait or Turkey.  I'd rather be there than North Korea.  But I guess more people would prefer North Korea..

Iran is a democracy with Sharia law. So is Pakistan. So is northern Nigeria. None of those places are very nice places to live.

Pakistan would not be so bad if america would stop indiscriminately dropping bombs on it.

There is a whole bunch of people who were living relatively happy lives until half their family was wiped out by a random drone strike.
Its a fact.

Like I said earlier, there are a lot of things labeled a democracy, but it does not mean it is very democratic. It may not be democratic at all.

We can examine a country or a group to measure how democratic they are, but the word democracy alone means nothing to me.

It seems to me that both of these options would mean there is power over me, and I may not be comfortable or agree with either Sharia Law or the authoritarian dictatorship.

It's absolutely not. Pakistan had been deteriorating long before the Afghanistan war. Sharia was slowly being implimented as younger generations took over long before the Afghanistan War. Pakistan is a democracy with Sharia and it is rife with corruption. Islamic theocracy is not compatible with democracy. We see this every place they meet. Northern Nigeria is a far worse place to live than Southern Nigeria. The difference? The North is wrought with religious violence. The Muslims impose Sharia even on their Christian neighbours and people die from it. And it's not like the poor farmers and craftsmen who live in the north can afford to move to the secular south.

Sharia and democracy don't mix. No country that has it is a nice place to live. Not one.

A younger generation moving into positions of power does not equate to "young people". Those countries whitch mix democracy and Sharia are hellholes. Every single one.

lol a democracy with Islamic Sha'ria law established? That'd be a nightmare.

No matter the nature of a secular dictatorship, it has to be better lmao

Democracy by its nature implies the ability to change the political landscape...
