The point of prison, on some level, is to rehabilitate the prisoners so that they won't repeat the crime (currently a huge chunk of prisoners are repeat offenders.)
Most of them didn’t give a fuck in the first place and sure as hell won’t give a fuck when they get out of prison no matter what you do.

I do care about society. I'd love to see them nerve gas all the animals at institutions like Pelican Bay. Perhaps this would make murders, rapists and armed robbers reconsider their actions before acting upon them. This is true rehabilitation, proactive instead of reactive.
e/ You can also add executives such as those at ENRON and AIG to the nerve gas line.
