That's not true. You pay to maintain the status quo, as I said it is a welfare state. You do not invest meaningfully into development. Fishing makes up 90% of their exports and it's nowhere near enough to sustain them, they need you to fund all of their public services. If they had money to start mining they quickly would not need you.
Obviously you have good reasons to not invest in them, but you shouldn't act so self-righteous about it.
The powers behind the government facades are interested in making Greenland into a techno state regardless of the owner. The mineral resources hype is a distraction in the current time frame, but is important later.
Greenland is appealing to the 1% elite class as it boasts an environment with massive and passive 'clean energy'. Low local population and regulation that would push back. Recently big power initiatives completed with more in the works. Odd, given the population dynamics there.
In short. Greenland is where 1% Elite Overlords want to build their AI datacenters. Cooled by glacial melt. Outside of the jurisdiction of hippie environmentalists. Done under the guise of 'clean technology'.
US don't care about holding the title. They just want forever * rights so our 1% can share in it.
