No, the locals have 5-10 acre homesteads out of town limits and the small town city plots have houses built in early 1900s. The choice in the vote swayed from the disproportionately large retired population and younger families moving out of town and displaced by tourist rentals.

Average income in Eveleth is 33k. Homes have 150k median price sold. Their property values are about 1/3 of the people living in the cities and their effective property tax rate is just 1.15%, compared to 1.30% for hennepin. We've chatted before about local programs going underfunded based on local choice in the tax matrix. But the funnel of wealth from country to city is unreal, a bit invisible. Where are all the Walz Environmental Warriors when shit like this is happening? Plenty of States (9?) have such programs like RMP, even in states that don't offer RMP have many fast food companies that accept EBT for cold-prepared meals.

I work in retail and see just how much garbage people on EBT purchase, multiple baskets full of junk with EBT balances in the 1000's.

I wonder how many TV's are going to be looted because nobody received their SNAP benefits
