We had a lot of this in 2016, which boils down to accusations that foreign powers are trying to present information to influence people's decision making. The best example being how Russia revealed that Hillary Clinton had rigged her primary election against Bernie Sanders. They hacked the DNC and dug up evidence as a way to slap back at Hillary for her interference in Putin's prior election, but once the evidence was out it showed wrongdoing by the democrats, and people had reason to vote against Hillary for it. At the end of the day, the worst the democrats could say is that they got caught cheating and the people who exposed them should be punished- and Julian Assange only got out of prison
this year for reporting on it.
Come 2020, Donald Trump focused on accusations that domestic powers were directly interfering with vote tallying. That voting machines were rigged, that mail-in ballots were fraudulent, that aliens had been voting. He had a bunch of accusations, but never found the actual evidence and nobody was caught cheating, and the worse the democrats could say is that Donald Trump tried to catch them cheating and should be punished.
Now come 2024, we're already seeing a significant number of domestic incidents of direct interference with vote tallying. Mail-in ballots that are provably fraudulent, ballot boxes being rigged, one alien caught voting by his own whoopsie moment. Thanks to the electoral college the most severe incidents probably can't change the outcome of the race, but we're still 5 days out
