I'm suggesting that your welfare system is unimpressive even for your own citizens.
It's more likely that they want more opportunity/safety/freedom than is what available in their home country. So if their home countries were to improve on those aspects, there would be less reason to immigrate to the US.

I'm from a Western Europe. You couldn't pay me to live in the US, my friend.

The only people getting killed by the cartels are the ones who steal from the cartels, talk to anyone from South, or Central America and they will tell you the same exact thing.

Your solution is to send more money to the cartels

Not only that your type tends to be adamantly opposed to temporarily occupying those countries to root out and eradicate the cartels which solves your hypothesized root problem.

i miss the days when we had homelessness sorta under control, european cities were so gross by comparison. now adays even mid sized cities have homeless people all around in the US. life in the countryside still superior to the piss stinky Eiffel tower.
