It doesn't matter if they are a boon. Politicians should ask their people if they want immigrants into their countries or not, especially if the prospective immigrants are from a very different background (different customs, religion, language, or even race).
Some people say we should take in highly skilled immigrants to fill the positions that are left unfilled, but this to me simply means we need to start training our own populations. Another country is capable of training highly skilled workers, why can't we?
