Yeah the conservatives are garbage IMO, big vice principle energy in most of them. As much as I think Trudeau needs to be fired for his incompetence I don't think Polelover will be any better and those seem like the only two options. I don't think the people's party has a chance simply because their platform would clash with US interests which means their opponents will always have more funding and coverage. I think there is value in voting for them regardless though, just as a protest vote if nothing else.

this is my most extreme take but I wish we could make an example out of Trudeau for outright lies during his campaigns.. I think making campaign promises and making no efforts towards those promises should be punishable with at least extremely high minimum sentencing and no ad seg bs

They have a lot of great policies IMO, haven't seen any I disagree with yet which is really rare for me. Don't think it is possible for them to win because the Cons will monopolize most of their possible voters but would love to see if they could implement the policies they talk about. Can even put aside my extreme dislike of french guys :D

how do you live in the Maritimes and agree with climate change deniers lol

Don't think I'll ever move back, I have a cottage south shore ways that I'll keep for summer and fall visits but I think the norm now is to not return and once boomers start dropping off I suspect the maratimes will see a population decline.

Nice, love the south shore. Coming back for the summer and fall is ideal, really nice there then. Think you are right about the population decline, I know a ton of people including myself who are only still here because we can work remotely or have aging parents to look after.

How are things in your part of the country? Think I've seen you say you live up north somewhere in another thread, how would you compare it with NS?

Agree on Trudeau, I'm not one of those people who blame him for every problem in the country but I think he holds a lot of responsibility for how things are going currently. Was really disappointed he didn't follow through on election reform which was his most important promise IMO. Should be consequences for not even attempting to do so.

I don't know what you mean about TPB sorry.

I agree with their policy proposals regarding climate change which are basically just backing out of any international agreements relating to it because I think they are useless and wasteful and diminish the sovereignty of our country. I also don't see Canada as the deciding factor with regards to climate change so if we need to lag behind in that particular area in order to move ahead in others I think that is a reasonable trade off. Do you think climate change should be the main focus for Canadians next election? Obviously it is an important issue but we have quite a few problems right now too.

The north lacks skills and competent people so it's easy to get a very high paying job with housing and a vehicle if you have a skillset that's needed. You have to enjoy where you live though, and if you're not an outside person that dosent mind harsh climates you would go insane.

Canada and Australia have always been "testing grounds" for shit they want to implement in the rest of the world.

Doesn't surprise me one bit sadly.

Remember in Los Angeles how they were telling people to just leave your car unlocked and the trunk open so you don't get your windows/trunk busted in.

The housing situation is the worst I've ever seen it. We literally had homeless encampments all throughout downtown in Halifax and in many of the public parks. The demand for apartments is so high that renters get spammed within minutes of posting ads so they are extremely picky as well. Feel bad for anyone trying to find a place now.

And yeah young people usually gtfo as soon as possible, very little opportunity and all the other lovely features you mentioned. I could deal with those things because I've always loved the small town charm but that is practically gone now and the decades of government incompetence has really stacked up. Current government has made some positive improvements to be fair though, Healthcare was an absolute nightmare before they were elected.

sounds a bit like the big cities in germany

when a somewhat decent apartment becomes available and there is an appointment to take a look at it, you will often find a queue with dozens of people all the way to the street

I see. Well, I can't say that I know much about Canada and its happenings, but it sounds not dissimilar in some ways to what the US is going through.

canada in recent years has the issue of woke by proxy for the USA. their emissions were lower, but they made harsher laws. their racism was lower, and they made harsher laws. their police issues are FAR lower, and they have a woke BLM mob that's seemingly purposeless. liberalism isn't an issue, but in an already fairly liberal nation that snake eats it's tail a bit.

of course that's a gross oversimplification, they have the same issues between provinces that say the eastern seaboard and california have versus the deep south with vastly different economies and cultures. but when 90% of the people in the country live in a small area, large conservative provinces aren't as much of an issue politically.
