$65m in punitive damages seems really excessive to me...

Tends to be excessive when you continue to defame somebody as the court case for how much damages you will pay for defaming them is going on.

Did Trump act like a dumbass? Absolutely.
Would he have been slapped with anywhere near 65m in punitive damages if he weren't Donald Trump; if any other person had engaged in the exact same behavior? Hell no!

Use your brain for two seconds and conclude that there was more evidence presented than what I pointed out in a 1 line forum post, and that it's all available in the previous court case if you want to look into it.

The judge went out of his way during jury selection to remove people who had any bias. If there were jurors with bias, it's up to Trump's team to find them. They have the right to object to jurors.

The reason Trump got hit with high punitive damages is not because he's Trump. It's because he flaunts his wealth and continues to defame her even after he already lost a court case for defaming her.

This is the system working as it should. If he won't stop the penalties will continue to escalate.

and it's hilarious that you think Trump got worse treatment when Trump consistently, even in this case, dodges sanctions. He tried to testify that he thought the case was a sham, even when he was instructed that he is not allowed to testify against things that have already been decided in court, and stormed out interrupting the proceedings. Anybody else would have spent a night in jail.

lets start at the start
does anyone anywhere, Thor included, actually believe E Jean Carroll's story? or at least, what very little narrative she crafted out of zero verifiable or contradictable details?

That's what really makes it a mockery of the court system. Its a trial on an accusation so vague and unsubstantiated that it completely lacks falsifiability, so there's nothing to hash out in a courtroom to begin with, no evidence to present and none that can contradict it. And that's besides the whole thing being insanely absurd- Donald Trump was dating a long list of supermodels who all attest to him being a gentleman at all times, and Carroll was an ugly withered hag even at that time, unfuckable even by low barroom standards. And while Trump was an instantly recognizable celebrity who couldn't go out in public without being identifiable, Carroll was a man-hating feminazi columnist who made impassioned pleas for why women need to act for themselves and reject men. And somehow she decided to abandon all her principles and hush up an assault by one of the most famous men in NYC, in public, for decades. And told no one. And in those years she wrote jokes about wanting to have sex with Trump, and also being a big fan of Trump's TV show. And her accusation just so happened to perfectly mirror an episode of SVU. And she magically came out with the accusation right when she released a book to profit off it. And on the media tour she acted like an insane dingbat and instantly pivoted from pretending to be traumatized to trying to take pot shots at Trump's penis

American history has been an exception for weaponization of the courts. Look at anything in European history, ancient Rome, China or Korea or Japan. Its absolutely filled with stories of palace intrigue and power plays and kangaroo courts whether its some feudal lord seizing his rivals territory and trying to legitimize it with a manufactured claim, or purging political rivals, or exiling a philosopher who fell out of favor. America notably has pretty soundly rejected that kind of abuse for most of its history. Even when the red scare was in full swing, McCarthyists wound up getting blown the fuck out by civil minded Americans who fizzled their movement. What we're seeing today is just the end of American exceptionalism, a return to baser abuses of authority

Yes. The jury on the last case.

Wow that was easy. Your entire post was destroyed by just acknowledging reality

And you actually think the jury needed to believe E Jean Carroll's story to rule against Donald Trump?
Do you know what city the trial took place in?
