Would rather jump off a cliff than live in a suburb or city. I did university in a city because there's little options otherwise and ill never live around a metro area again. Suburbs are just as bad. Just a bunch of pretend keeping up with the jones people.

But that's just my perception, and how i feel, obviously I know there's lots of people that love it and cant think about living anyway other than that. Also I appreciate those people because it means they are not flooding elsewhere. People have to live somewhere after all.

I think not every suburb is built the same. Lived in some shit ones not much different than major cities, and lived in some amazing ones.

Fuck the city though, any major city lol

I could not picture spending 750K+ to see my neighbour. That would kill me. I have a hatred toward vanity, including but not limited to fashion, cars, living beyond means.

If I ever do move out of the Arctic, will be a minimum few acre plot around the Rockies where I don't have to see anyone around me. Lots of affordable plots in southern Alberta still.

But again, different strokes for different folks. I know people that love the buzz of the city and cant imagine not having noise around them. To each their own. I know people that love the ease of life living in the burbs offers, especially with kids.

so people can get away with shitty behavior everywhere?

Yes, fundamental of nature and society which is why we have adversity. You described something so petty it's not worth fretting over even though it violates your idea of what's correct.

Already said, but tow his ass next time, don't waste mental cycles on it beyond that

this is how it works where i grew up. (about 25 mins away from where I currently live). there was so much sense of community that every neighbor would help out each other if anything needed to be done (i.e, if noticed a garbage bin was left unruly by the collector, they would pick it up and bring it back).

these people are probably in their 40s? will have to see how their attitude changes once the property manager starts issuing them notices of violations.

yeah, i think this is the goal lol but needed due to proximity to work. (wife works at the hospital so need to be close for her)

both my wife and i are 25 mins from work. i know a lot of city people with a 1 hour or more commute. its hard if u work in a big city to get out of it and not have a crazy commute so i get that for sure.

Suburbs for life

suburbs are ok but i want more room, livestock, massive garden, and lower cost. pros and cons tho, im on well water (good), but have a septic system (bad). 1 acre of land (good) but its not 5+ acres like i want (bad).

You can still get an acre and privacy in suburbs though. Like there’s a few hundred feet between my neighbors and me and there are some richer suburbs where you can really get privacy. For me it’s exactly what you said, ease of life. 15 minute drive to work, family and friends nearby, kids activities all close, nice restaurants/grocery stores. You can get these things in the city but have to contend with shittier people, higher crime. If I was rural I would have to give up a lot of this.

But 100% it just depends what your priorities are. I don’t grow my own food like snipa and if I had that knowledge my priorities might change. I also love cars, which understandably you (sbd) care less about, and you can’t have nice cars in the city, or make use of them in rural areas.

I think kids , occupation, hobbies all factor a bit into ideal place to live. When I’m on call I need to be able to get to work within 60 minutes if necessary so living 15 min away is hugely convenient

At least we can all agree on fk inner cities. it’s fun when you’re younger and no kids but as a working father the idea of living in the city stresses the fk out of me

I suspect upbringing also plays a major influence, think that's fairly obvious. I grew up ultra rural where you might see a total of two vehicles a day go by and that was just the norm. But I had a great childhood on old skidoos, atvs, etc. from a father who could fix stuff from the dump and you could go anywhere. It was either logging land or pastures. Friends I have, had a great childhood playing hockey in the streets of their suburbs and wouldn't trade those memories.

For those fortunate to have good childhoods likely want similar for their owns kids / replicate it. Or at least that is how I feel.

100% agree

Pretty much Grew up across Midwest Suburbs. Did live in rural MI for a year and have lived in cities (Chicago, Milwaukee, Detroit) off and on throughout the last decade.

I don't know what all this fuss is about? Canada is leading the charge against evil nazis and is at the forefront of promoting equality for all. Trust the plan and just know that Canada is on the right side of history:

Yup, they're in Universities all across Canada. For all of the women who are transitioning to men. I haven't seen any myself, more men converting to women than I would have expected.. Any way. Interesting times we live in.

because the perpetrators are usually low-class peasant minded people who import mindsets from failing countries abroad to local western communities and are fairly rude/racist to whoever is not their own skin colour.
