capitalist system or not... thats beside the point.

we settle, then we consume, then we multiply, we consume some more, then we move outwards, then we settle again and the cycle goes on...

you can literally view cities as cancer on the planet. no, concrete jungles are not natural.

you cannot literally view cities as cancer on the planet, no.

humans are natural, I don't accept the logic of "everything not human is natural and everything not natural is bad, therefore humans are bad and are a cancer on the planet"

yeah, i'm on team human not team gaia. We should treat earth in a way that benefits humans, if that means reducing pollution etc that is reasonable. I do not subscribe to the idea that humans are "bad" because we cut down forests to make civilization, we aren't "bad" because we redirect rivers or because a certain species would thrive better without our existence. Humans come first.

youre honestly insane in my mind if you think the planet is here to serve us.

originally we were no different then any other animal. spiders got dope eyes and 8 legs, sharks got gills, and humans got the best brain, aside from thumbs and walking upright.
problem is, with our brain we invented money and so on...

Team Gaia crew are deluding themselves. They are the same people that drink almond milk lattes resulting in millions of dead bees.

Bee lives matter!

the planet exists, that's it. It's not here to do anything, I don't think there's an objective purpose to it. Humans mold our own reality, and this is the reality I find precedence in -- not some weird planet worship. We have evolved with every other species, and since i'm a human I value humanity.

does that mean that team human is probably a bunch of religious fanatics that think god created earth at the center of the universe just for them? lol

imo, almond milk is gross and steak is delicious...

Team human

Or team earth?

Don’t be a traitor. Earth is destined to die anyway but humanity has a non zero percent chance to move on

I agree with op organized religion specifically the big 3 are a detriment team human, since we left the dark ages.

Team Earth.

Only humans were naïve enough and prideful enough to say "We could do better then nature". This is supported by the development of sophisticated language where humans use the term "I" as a differentiation from what was already ONE. Nature/God(one and the same)

This is where it is easy to see that EGO which developed only under MAN is responsible for the disruption of the very systems God/Nature intended to be there and were crucial in our development.

I often hear people say or people believe if we as humans get to the Moon or Mars and our species "continues" while the planet burns that it'd be a success story. I don't think so.

That'd be like setting "Noah's Ark" ablaze with all living things aboard and then going...well at least I'll/We'll make it out! We could always find a new planet(not gonna happen)

I wouldn't want to stand before my creator and have knowingly had a role in any form of destruction not necessary. As Buddha famously said, A "single blade of grass" has just as much of a right to be here and exist as I do. This (human) life is not more valuable then even the lowliest "worm".

I think a lot of people really hold onto scripture that says, "God gave humans dominion over all things". We as humans simply have "dominion" through intelligence.

The folks who say "I can eat meat because God said" or "I won't eat meat because things suffer" who is morally right?

People say "I love fish" but they kill the fish and eat it. Is that love?

People say "I love flowers" but then they pick the flower and it whithers quickly. Is that love.

We as humans have come to a place where we hate what we've done to the planet so bad we now blame the planet itself for the very problems we created.

The "planet" created the conditions for a "super virus". The "planet" is causing extreme temperature swings and climate cataclysms.

Scapegoating doesn't change the underlying condition imo

your statements are extreme and incorrect. I don't care about the planets "health" aside from how beneficial that is to humans. The planet doesn't have a pulse, ideas, or feelings.
