Something called a fuel tax and heavy vehicle use tax exists to support exactly what you said - to pay for roads. Trucks use ALOT of fuel. Amazon pays for all of those taxes.

$550 a year is chump change considering these vehicles are ran 24/7/365 and are the main cause of road degradation. Many states charge EV tax via an extra registration charge too that’s more than the equivalent gas tax for 12k miles/year ICE vehicles

Now show me the percent of damage due to cars versus trucks and compare funding.

Electric cars have extra registration fees and such to compensate. I know because mine did.

You will find trucks are being subsidized and regular car users should be paying virtually nothing
