trump got involved in politics and as a result allegedly broke the law. if he didnt get involved in politics he not only wouldnt have allegedly committed these crimes, but likely also could have committed similar crimes without detection. i mean for decades he hired contractors and shortchanged or refused payment, then used his wealth to drag out the trials until they couldnt pay and just stopped. ivanka had a china made shoe company that just straight up ripped off trademarked designer shoes, no one would have noticed if he didnt run for potus.
i could say the treatment of HRC is besides the point, its blatant whataboutism afterall, but i agree that anyone of Trump's peers who committed related offenses should also be charged and fined/jailed. we've got far too much corruption in politics in the entire nation to refuse to tackle some of it because we aren't tackling all of it.
Whataboutism has to be the most abused term of the last few years. Trump maintains that his political opponents are using the Justice system to persecute him. If justice is being meted out partially, he may have a point. And how similarly high-profile cases were handled in the past is clearly germane to the conversation.
At the bold, if you said we should bring back Carthaginian crucifixion to deal with this, you wouldn't hear any argument from me. But it would be doubly important that we're meting out consistent justice.

I'm undecided on the merits of the prosecution because the indictment hasn't been released.
I'm completely open to the idea that the prosecution is unmerited, but I'm not sure how that would justify the response I've seen from the cult. It strikes me as reverse Trump Derangement Syndrome.
There are two cults. TDS is very clearly real, and obviously Trump's hardline supporters are completely irrational.
