Does Biden look like a guy who is trying to get rich from his career? He's been in government for decades, he could've jumped ship years ago to join multiple boards and become a lobbyist to make dough. Why would someone like this compromise his long history of being scandal free on these matters to make a few extra bucks? And why would he expect 10% from the ventures of his son, who he certainly knows is a complete fuck-up?

It's far more likely Hunter Biden was bullshitting that he included Joe Biden in the payoffs, because he's a drug-addled liar, and his father is a man with power, which he can leverage.

Oh, btw, Sam Harris uses this comparison as a contrast to Trump and his family, which are a bunch of corrupt grifters who are obviously primarily interested in money.

I just have to laugh at people who think Biden is simultaneously leaving his son voicemails about how he hope he gets his life together, while Joe's waiting for the 10% from his latest scheme in China. It's classic wishful and conspiratorial thinking. Hunter Biden has fooled conservatives far more in the past 4 years than he has fooled his father, and Joe is the father of a drug addict.

Yes, I think Joe strikes a lot of people as the sort of person with no other marketable skills who would rely on influence peddling to support his family. This is a man derided by Obama and Robert Gates as a moron. I mean, in most cases, it's not even illegal. Joe is a well known plagiarist, what moral scruples do you imagine him to have? James Biden's exploits in that arena have been well documented for decades, and on Hunter, even the Obama administration was deeply concerned over his Ukrainian escapades. I think we end up at one of two places, either the evidence is wrong, and Joe isn't involved, but merely so dumb, naive, and otherwise oblivious as to disqualify him for public office; or Biden himself has always been perfectly ok with it, put his family first and drew the water from the well.

I would contrast this with the story of Trump making a "killing", as in some thousands of dollars of his ownership of a hotel near the White House. Does anyone seriously believe, aside from Thor, that this was a serious source of influence over a man worth several billion? It beggars belief, and yet establishment media outfits diligently carried the story as some sort of smoking gun. Which brings us back to the original sin here. If this story really is so light weight and easily explained away, then diligent reporting would no doubt expose the right-wing fraud. But as with the Hunter Biden laptop, they won't touch the story even to disprove it. And as with the Hunter Biden story, the logical explanation is of course that they fear more is there.

The difference between Trump and Hunter is that Hunter hasnt been forced to shut down charities because of fraud, his companies havent recently been fined millions of dollars, he didnt try to start an insurrection, Hunter isnt a known grifter or otherwise nearly that of trump. Hunter last week didnt say he was going to get arresteds then beg people for money and then not get arrested.. hunters companies arent getting fined for 250million dollars by NYG. Hunter isnt trying to dismiss a 250 million dolalr lawsuit saying 'I did the fraud but its outside of the statute of limitations so I should go free" Hunter Biden didnt declare bankruptcy like 10 times just to take advantage whole heartedly of the system.
