When did I say we need a massive Trump style wall?

Also, since you brought it up, according to Border Patrol agents who work near current walls, they're actually very effective. Soooo, keep REEEE'ing.

From what I've read from actual Border Patrol agents, they are severely understaffed and underfunded. They need about five (yes, 5!) times the personnel.

and ever prison guard says the same thing, yet the prisons dont have massive riots every day.

the day i take the word of someone for what they need for their job is the day i hang it up. my entire profession is telling people what they need, and how much it will cost me to provide it for them, landed and installed. people are liars that want extra help, and 5x more agents wont stop the cartels nor the coyotes.

i'm sorry but "where the wall is its working" is by far the worst talking point on this topic. its not even close.

you mean to say that instead of walking into a zone with a wall they go to a different area and crossings in areas with walls decrease? boy, shocked. thats one everyone needs to purge from their brain.

I don't really trust border patrol agents to know what would be effective measures but definitely appreciate if they feel they need more staffing

I'm not exactly advocating some big ass Trump style wall, but rather I'm pointing out that those who claim walls are ineffective are just as foolish as those who suggest a Trump wall. Realistically, segmented walls would only be practical in certain regions along the border (I think most Americans don't realize how hostile and rough much of the southern border is).

Unfortunately illegal immigration is something that will never go away, not as long as we are the haves and many in lesser countries are the have-nots. As long as that disparity persists, we're just going to have to make do.

i'm suggesting that a southern border wall would be so ineffective that it's not worth even 25% of the cost. i've been saying it since before "BUILD THE WALL" came into the lexicon.

it was a portion of my senior term paper on the Mexican drug cartels in 2010. and i said it then.

its a massive waste of money. entirely ineffective. a purely poppycock idea for people who dont understand the border issue.

I have been abrasive lately; not been my best, you're probably right.

It just pisses me off how before Trump, people used to have civil discourse about the illegal immigration problem and everyone seemed to agree something needed to be done. But ever since Trump got into office, half of those people went into "fuck Trump!" mode and seemingly advocate open borders, all just to spite Orange Man.

polarization is for sure a bitter pill to swallow. on border security tho neither side has ever hit the nail on the head. Obama actually came close by tossing Mexico massive money to combat cartels. but it was maybe 1/100th what the problem needs. we shouldn't have been in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, etc. We should have been in Mexico all along, and if the rats ran south we should have pursued then built a wall on the southern mexican border while they hid in Columbia or wherever. the immigration issue boils down to a cartel issue, its that simple.

I'm still trying to figure out what we're achieving in Afghanistan. Almost 20 years now and we're still fighting hillmen with goats.

You're wrong about illegal immigration boiling down to just cartel violence. It's a symptom of a myriad of problems ranging from rampant poverty to simply too many people with not enough to do. Blame the Catholic church for that one. Be fruitful and shun birth control! The current state of the world is beginning to eerily resemble pre-WW1 conditions. Shitloads of people with not enough to do, not enough butter to go around, and not enough to live for.
