Id be fine if I lived in a country where telling someone you are a KKK member got you punched in the face.

Then the guy punching gets the lightest sentence so the government doesnt technically endorse violence

govt giving too light of a sentence comparatively to other crimes is literally endorsing violence. It would be, to take it to the extreme, like the govt giving you a 10$ fine for murder.

Why I said technically

These things also tend to have minimum sentences

Murder for defense, let alone the stand your ground law.

But this was about a punch, if that's all, it deserves a light punishment, not thinking about jailtime. Are you ?

punching someone doesn't have a minimum sentence. but i get what you mean.

i still think from a legal perspective under-punishing is endorsement of violence, technically.

we're talking about punching someone, unprovoked, because they belong to a group that is bigoted.

yes, i would endorse jailtime for that, if not on the first punch for sure if it becomes a repeated behavior.

I don't like the KKK but you cant just punch people you don't like.

When it becomes repeated behavior I agree with a jailtime... But not for a single event, community service/a fine going towards the one you've punched, is better then imo.

I made it up until Newt claimed the FBI and DOJ orchestrated a coup. And Shapiro didn't even follow up.

This shows you how nutty right-wing discourse has become... where a former speaker of the House claims the DOJ orchestrated an overthrow of the president, and the young right-wing "intellectual" can't even bother to maybe flesh out such a serious accusation.

It's why I don't like his Sunday show he's essentially Rubin on it

He's always Mr. tough guy when he is by himself running his mouth on his solo show or when he is picking and choosing weak ass opponents for his -owned- debate compilations but when he sits down one on one in that environment he's too much into the sunday christian talk show thing and to me it makes it low value political content

if he applied that level of scrutiny in the Andrew Yang conversation episode it wouldn't have ever gotten past the first sentence. I don't watch the Sunday show for that reason, it's a "conversation" and disagreements are clearly avoided at all costs. But he also has a serious lack of left wingers to take advantage of the format so it's really just a front.
