The main thing that stands out to me in this video though, is that he frames he discussion as being about "existence", which I don't think is quite accurate. I don't think people are saying that by virtue of merely existing within the jurisdiction of a government you've given implicit consent to follow the "rules" (taxes, in this case) of that government.

Personally, I think it comes down to utilization, not just existence. You're free to exist in our society or not, but to utilize aspects of our society (currency, laws, healthcare, etc.) comes with a collective expense.

You're right, he does. Thanks for the heads up. I've now watched through that section and don't agree with his response.

I don't find it accurate to say that these systems are inescapable, because by literal definition they are not. I think more honest would be to say that these systems are preferable to a life of voluntary exile, and I feel his comparison to an inmate in prison eating food reflects this. The prison inmate literally can't escape, functionally and in a way consistent with a literal definition. The same can't be said about the man in the video.

Make the arguments yourself instead of being lazy.

It's not laziness if the authors of this "quality content" are considered experts in their fields. All I see after checking on these folks is that they are book authors, nothing more.



Anyway, there seems to be an issue with the fact that these days, no matter where you live in the USA you are "participating" and receiving benefit from the "system", even if unintentionally.

Take something simple like water. Whether it is coming from pipe, stream or even condensation, you would be benefiting from countless federal standards for water/air purity. Standards that would not exist w/o the federal govt.
The only entity keeping the guy upstream from you, from crapping in the water is the fed. Standards that require harmless to human pipes, are fed standards. Even the clean air we still manage to have is at the behest of federal laws.

All this regulation has to be paid for somehow. I don't think anyone is gonna trade for beaver pelts anymore.

I didn't find this convincing at all. If he continues to use services while yelling "I don't consent" then he's simply a liar and a hypocrite lol. Actions speak louder than words after all.

There are a handful of countries in this world with no income taxes and even more that are unstable enough where you could quite literally create your very own social contract that is enforceable. The fact that you don't LIKE those choices is irrelevant. The fact that zero calorie Doritos do not exist is infuriating to me so I just stick with the next best thing: Spicy Nacho.

This is why i just laugh when people tell me since i hate the oligarchy i currently reside in that i should quit my job and be homeless.
