She's right, just looking at it like an idiot. I don't care what % of mentally ill people commit crimes, i care what % of school shooters are mentally ill.
that guy who said they "proved the 2nd ammendment doesnt cover assault weapons in maryland" was a real trip
i personally think every highschool should have the same security as colleges do.
my college had armed campus security. they patrolled the perimeter in their tiny little white pickup trucks 24/7. also you'd see them randomly walk by and check classrooms every now and then. i always saw one or two every day
my highschool just had a couple fat security officers wobbling around thinking their hot shit on their walkie talkies. and then 1 safety officer who just chatted to kids in the cafeteria for an hour and left.
not a permanent solution to this issue, but it's something i think could be added as an additional layer.
usa school shootings are similar to DDOS/DOS attacks. you can never really mitigate the attack (deranged person inflicting evil) -- but the more layers you have to prevent it (ddos filtered IP, drop all ports, but only allow certain ones, rate limiting, software level firewall, etc, etc), can help.
