Siding with the guy who "has been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades" is the smart decision. Listening to Kissinger makes you a moron. How could it be otherwise, when the very smart people who brought us Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria are all in support? And don't let the disaster of each of those debacles dissuade you, after all, we know they had the right idea because... well sometimes you just know.
After talking for years about the strategic necessity of "pivoting" to Asia, it should not be difficult to understand why it might not be in our interest to find ourselves locked into a forever war in Europe, the only guaranteed outcome of which is the subordination of Russia to Chinese interests. This after we've been told in no uncertain terms (circa 2014) that Ukraine is not a "core interest" of American foreign policy and that Europe must shoulder the lion's share of their own security. What changed between then and now is never explained. Just keep cutting the cheques and never judge a crisis by the results.
I don't follow pundit personalities online, so I don't know what they saying, but you're conflating support for Israel's "right to action" with support for sending Israel endless trunks of cash. Israel has a very pragmatic view of it's relationship with the United States, we ought to return the favor.
You think it's in the strategic interest of the United States(and the West broadly) to allow Russia to overthrow Ukraine? Can you explain how that is in our interest, broadly or as part of an Asia-focused strategy?
We're spending pennies to help the Ukrainians destroy Russia's military. There's no real argument against supporting them outside of weird ideological ones.
