It's still a risky strategy. both for the economy, and for trumps reelection prospects. I dont think what he's doing is wrong, but stock market reactions in the immediate aftermath should not lead us to the premature conclusion that "his tariffs are working". It will take a lot longer to see if his decision to escalate the trade war with those tariffs paid off or not.
