It's not police leadership in that situation. The officers on scene turned coward when faced with the choice and waited for a better man to step in.

Maybe they didn't have proper PPE available in the moment? Asking a cop to jump into this room with the heavily armed shooter without high-quality bullet-proof gear and helmets and so on, would basically amount to demanding that he jumps into his certain death.
Oooor they were scared that the shooter has a hand grenade or a bomb vest and blows the whole room up, including all of his hostages.



This might be a case of cowardice in the face of the enemy or whatever you wanna call it, but we can't know for sure. You guys are jumping to conclusions way too quickly because of your penchant for blaming cops for everything that goes wrong.

So if a cop cant stop an 18 year old with a gun what good are they? Was this kid seal team 6? If only highly trained professionals can stop someone like this shooter, guns aren't really a self defense tool and we should regulate them to keep them out of the hands of this super soldier kid.

Also it wasn't an off duty officer. It was a tactical team from border patrol who breached and killed him.

Cops are supposed to be willing to pay their lives down in the moment for the lives of innocents around them. If a cop won't sacrifice themselves for a shot at saving 19 kids whats the point?

I don't think describing that officer as a rogue officer is accurate. Is a doctor who gets paged into work on their day off a difficult case a rogue doctor? This is all deflection from the dereliction of duty from the officers at the scene. It's an 18 year old kid with a gun, no body armor as previously reported.
